NICL AO Vacancy Distribution 2026

Where a candidate qualifies for relaxation under more than one category, cumulative relaxation may apply, subject to the condition that the maximum age does not exceed 45 years.

Salary Structure and Application Fee

Selected candidates appointed as Administrative Officer (Scale-I) will receive a starting basic pay of ₹82,485 per month. The designated pay scale is 82485-4050(14)-139185-4390(4)-156745. Including metropolitan allowances, the approximate total emoluments amount to ₹1,14,000 per month. NICL AO Selection Process and Exam Pattern 2026

The recruitment process consists of five distinct stages:

1. Phase-I Preliminary Examination

Phase-I Preliminary Examination

The Prelims will be an online test of 100 marks with a 60-minute duration. Candidates must clear sectional cut-offs to qualify. Subject to availability, roughly 15 times the number of total vacancies will be shortlisted for the Mains.

Descriptive Test

Following the objective tests, the Main Examination incorporates a qualifying English Descriptive Test worth 30 marks with a 30-minute duration. The marks obtained will not factor into final selection shortlisting.

Note on Negative Marking: Both Phase-I and Phase-II objective tests carry a penalty for incorrect answers. One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer. Unanswered questions do not attract penalties.

Interview and Final Selection

Shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Interview stage. Final selection derives from a combined score in the Main Examination Objective Test and the Interview, calculated in an 80:20 ratio.
