Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess a Full Time Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, securing not less than 60% marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized University/Institute approved by AICTE/UGC, calculated as on 01.10.2026.

This percentage is derived from the consolidated mark sheet provided by the issuing University/Institution. In cases where a consolidated sheet is not provided, candidates must calculate the final percentage by averaging all semesters/years. The final percentage must be stated precisely without any rounding off.

For mark sheets displaying CGPA/OGPA/DGPA:

  • If the institution lacks a formal rule for converting a CGPA/OGPA/CPI/DGPA or letter grade into a percentage, a minimum score of 6 on a 10-point scale will be accepted as 60%. Scores evaluated on different scales will be calculated on a prorated basis.
  • If the institution provides a conversion formula, candidates must declare the equivalent percentage based on those specific institutional norms. A supporting certificate from the university/institute may be obtained and must be presented during the document verification stage.

Experience

A minimum of five years of post-qualification experience is mandatory, evaluated as on 01.10.2026. This experience must stem from sectors involving Electrical construction, Procurement, Installation, Testing and commissioning/TRD Maintenance within Railways, Metro Rail, or Power Transmission/Distribution utilities.

The organization will give preference to candidates possessing experience in Railway OHE/Power Supply/SCADA, E&M, or Electrical utility Diversion. Backgrounds in teaching, training, consultancy, or freelancing will not be considered relevant experience for this role.

Age Limit

The maximum permissible age is 50 years, determined as on 01.10.2026. Age relaxations will be granted in alignment with the Government of India’s guidelines, provided the applicant satisfies the essential qualification and experience prerequisites.

Medical Standards

Applicants are required to maintain sound health and be free from colour blindness. The notification firmly states that no relaxation in standard health parameters will be allowed.

Candidates are eligible to apply regardless of their employment status on the designated cut-off date, provided they satisfy all essential qualifications and post-qualification experience mandates. Ex-contract employees previously associated with IRCON, whose services concluded due to project closures, are also eligible if they meet the criteria. These individuals must attach a copy of their termination letter alongside their application. If selected, their recruitment will be processed as a fresh appointment, maintaining no continuity or link to their prior tenure at IRCON. For an exhaustive list of eligibility conditions, candidates should review the official notification.

Pay and Contract Terms

  • Pay: Recruits will draw a fixed consolidated pay of Rs. 60,000/- per month, coupled with an annual increment of 5% on the fixed consolidated pay following the completion of each year of service. The position offers no additional allowances beyond the fixed pay.
  • Contract period: The initial engagement lasts for 18 months, heavily dependent on satisfactory performance. This contract can be extended for an additional year if the candidate’s performance meets expectations and the Project demands their continued service.
  • These opportunities are exclusively restricted to the NFR Projects under the Lumding and Tinsukia Divisions, completely separate from IRCON’s regular establishment. The appointment structure is co-terminus with the Project and does not grant the employee any right to demand absorption into the regular establishment or secure placement in alternate company projects.
  • Medical cover: Selected personnel are mandated to acquire a Medical Health Insurance Policy of Rs Three Lakhs for themselves. This policy must cover Covid-19 alongside other diseases, subject to a premium ceiling of Rs 4000/- per annum. IRCON reimburses this premium upon the submission of a copy of the policy and the original premium receipt.
  • PF: Deductions corresponding to the minimum PF prescribed under the EPF & MP Act 1952 will be drawn from the salary, matched equally by IRCON. This accumulated fund is disbursed at the termination of the contract.
  • Leave: Employees accrue one leave for each calendar month of active service. While these leaves can be carried forward and accumulated over time, any unused leave cannot be encashed during the tenure, nor upon resignation or contract termination. No alternative leave structures are admissible.
  • Contractually employed individuals will receive one weekly off, alongside public holidays observed by the closed project office. Standard working hours, active working days, and designated offs align identically with the Project’s operational schedule.
  • TA/DA provisions become admissible solely when the employee is deployed on outstation duty. Apart from this, no supplementary perks or benefits are admissible.

What to Bring

Attendees must arrive with original documents and one comprehensive set of photocopies for the following credentials:

  • The formal application, explicitly typed on A-4 size paper conforming to the format appended to the notice. This format demands personal details, contact information, community status, disclosures regarding relatives currently or previously employed in IRCON, details of the last/present organisation, academic and professional qualifications including marks, and cumulative work experience up to 01-10-2026. A self-attested passport-size photograph and a signed declaration are also strictly required.
  • Chronologically arranged experience certificates. Applicants currently employed elsewhere must furnish the last two months’ salary slips originating from their present employer, as a mere offer letter is not recognized as definitive proof of experience.
  • Date of birth/Class X passing certificate serving as official proof of date of birth.
  • Caste certificate/EWS certificate/age relaxation certificate formatted precisely per the Government of India’s guidelines.
  • Qualification degree/diploma certificates paired with mark sheets encompassing all semesters/years to facilitate the calculation of the qualifying degree percentage.
  • For previous ex-contract employees of IRCON: a direct copy of the termination letter.
  • OBC applicants are mandated to present a caste certificate issued by a competent authority authorized for appointments to services under the Government of India, adhering strictly to the Annexure-A format annexed to the notice. Solely OBC certificates granted within the current financial year will be recognized as legitimate proof confirming the candidate does not belong to the “creamy layer”.

  • Interviews are scheduled to start promptly at 10:00 AM.
  • The interview process is exclusively reserved for candidates who fulfill the complete eligibility criteria. Presenting original certificates authenticating age, community, educational qualifications, and experience is mandatory. Failing to produce these will result in the cancellation of the interview for that candidate.
  • The timeline of the process may span across more than one day based on the volume of registered candidates, requiring attendees to structure their travel plans accordingly.
  • The authority will not entertain any requests seeking alterations to the date, time, or location of the interview.
